On our part, (Tom mentioned this after the Town Hall arrest) we need to stay together and not get separated like we did when we were exiting. This is difficult, because the WPD is trying to separate us. At the BOE mic check, Dick Dick stood his ground with Bill and when told to leave, he said he wasn't leaving until Mike left. Then the BOE/cop asked him if he wanted to go to prison.
Looking forward to your report back to us after this meeting! Thanks!
The Police Liason Working Group wants to be well prepared when we go to meet with the Chief. There are several items not listed in order of importance that we want to bring up.
1) What happened to Doris was not necessary. Most of the police seem OK, but there are those who can be mean, rough and abusive. We need to find ways to discourage this.
2) Most of the police have been friendly, supportive and helpful. We need to acknowledge the good guys.
3) We want to put together a set of guidelines so that we are better equipped to stay out of trouble, especially at more challenging protests like the Brownback Town Hall.
We need your suggestions, thoughts, additions to this list. It will help us do a better job when this thing happens.
We are working on a meeting with the chief of WPD. The purpose is to form a better relationship with the police and to make an effort to see that our people don't get roughed up or abused by the process. This is a difficult issue for some of us. You can deal with it here.
